Rachel Bothwell is the founder of GP Practice Ally (GPPA), an education and community platform helping GP practices across Ireland build healthy, sustainable businesses.

She founded GPPA in 2021 after stepping in to manage her family’s GP practice and seeing first-hand the lack of structure and support for the operational and financial side of general practice. Today, GPPA supports over 2,400 GPs, practice managers and teams across 75% of Irish GP practices.

Her work focuses on building healthy practices, where strong systems, financial clarity and empowered teams support high-quality patient care. GPPA combines practical, on-demand resources with a peer community where practices share what is working. The organisation also delivers in-person practice management and admin training programmes and manages over 150 GP websites.

Her work has been recognised nationally including SFA Outstanding Small Business 2025, PMI Ireland Under 35 Changemaker 2025 and Irish Early Career Entrepreneur of the Year 2024.
